A Forum on Mary, Mother of Jesus by Christian and Muslim Women Perspective

Sr. Rita and Merve Gollu will be speaking about their perspective of Mary at Poor Clare Monastery on December 9th at 7pm.

Intro of Rita and Merve. They will address 5 aspects of Mary’s life from the point of view of scripture and legend (Rita will explain how we define legend.)

1. Mary’s family – parents and lineage

2. Mary’s upbringing – temple; Zacharia, guardianship, meaning of her name.

3. Joseph and Mary and Gabriel – their relationship; guardian, husband; risks for Mary and Joseph; trust from Mary and Joseph.

4. Mary’s pregnancy – Mary’s visit with Elizabeth; Elizabeth’s reaction; babes in the womb; Joseph’s reaction to the pregnancy; the reaction of others.

5. Mary at Jesus’ death/ascension/resurrection.

Summary statements: Rita and Merve will discuss what Mary has meant personally to them.
